In an industrial dust extraction installation, the filter is the element where the air laden with chips and sawdust is filtered. It is, therefore, the central element of the suction installation. The filter essentially consists of the following elements: expansion chamber, a compartment containing the filter medium, clean compartment, fan compartment, and hopper for chip and sawdust recovery. The fan in the fan compartment generates the airflow required for the suction of the woodworking machines. The loaded air enters the expansion chamber, where a first separation of particles and air occurs, and then comes into contact with the filter medium, where it is filtered. The air then passes through the clean compartment and is drawn in by the fan before being expelled outdoors or recycled. At the filter medium, the dust particles remain attached and are then separated during the filter cleaning. The lower part of the filter, also called the "hopper," is the receptacle that collects the waste. Various chip disposal options are possible: screw conveyors, locks, bins, etc.
